Nepenthes maxima x aristolochioides, BE-3578

One of my favorite and most vigorous hybrids! The aristolochioides pollen parent really comes through, contributing a hunchback shape and deep peristome opening.

From Borneo Exotics: " The female parent is a green slightly wavy-leaf form of N. maxima from Sulawesi, formerly sold under BE-3110 and the male parent is our best selected form of Nepenthes aristolochioides from amongst those sold under BE-3023."

Chopping up vines for cuttings always makes me a little sad, especially if there are great pitchers on it! August 2020
I obtained my original mother plant as a young plant from California Carnivores sometime in the Summer of 2016. This hybrid grows extremely quickly! If you want vigorous and constantly rewarding, this is the plant for you. I love it so much I have two adult plants, one on my south-facing windowsill and one in my terrarium. The one in the terrarium has slightly larger pitchers and a more hunchbacked shape. I am not sure if this is due to warmer and more stable growing conditions in the terrarium or because of the difference in light intensity. Both produce 2-3 basal shoots at a time and long vines that I occasionally cut back. I've never let it flower before but I just might - I think it would be really cool to cross this with another aristolochioides cross! This is an extremely forgiving plant that I am sure would adjust easily adjust to a wide range of growing conditions!
