Nepenthes rafflesiana

A classic lowland species! These are genetically unique seed grown individuals that I am looking forward to watch develop over time!
From the 1882 Gardeners' Chronicle, upon describing two new varieties of Nepenthes rafflesiana: "Both were imported directly from Borneo, and one or both - unless we are mistaken - are forms of N. Rafflesiana. The pitchers alone are not sufficient to decide this point, as these organs are notoriously variable, even on the same plant, at different stages of growth."

Seedling 1 has lovely dark red speckles on a creamy background. September 2020

Seedling 2 has an all cream pitcher body with lovely red blushing on the wings! Also appears to have very compact growth. September 2020
I obtained my seedlings from a fellow Nepenthes hobbyist that sowed the seeds and had lots to spare! I asked him for a "creamy" individual and he surprised me with two lovely seedlings. Even at this young age there are some exciting differences between them! These are my first rafflesiana and I am looking forward to watching them develop over time! They are currently bagged to prevent pitcher loss while they acclimate, but stay tuned for updates!

Starting to pick up after putting in a heating mat! Love the reduced speckling and starting to get some interesting peristome development!

I just LOVE how cream this one is! Hoping for the rose blush on the wings to continue to develop! Seems to grow slower than its speckled sibling.
