Nepenthes spathulata x jacquelineae,
BE-3883

An exciting cross with a fantastic, saucer-like peristome from the jacquelineae pollen parent!

Big jump in pitcher size! October 2020
From Borneo Exotics: "First introduced in March 2018. This outstanding item was released earlier as seed-grown plants and immediately sold out. The female parent is our selected clone of N. spathulata with wide purple peristome and green pitcher body, sold under BE-3175 and the male parent is our best form of N. jacquelineae, selected from amongst those sold under BE-3093. Random assortment from a very large number of clones out of microprop."
This hybrid is one of those plants that I kept scrolling past on the Carnivero website... again and again... only to finally purchase it when my willpower was particularly low. I obtained my spathulata x jacquelineae as a "medium" plant in August 2020. It was my first time ordering from Carnivero and although the plant arrived very well-packed with no damage, I admittedly was a little bit disappointed in the size of it. Luckily this plant is extremely vigorous and quickly acclimated to my conditions, putting out its first beautiful little red pitcher only 2 weeks after arrival! The next pitcher looks like it's going to be twice the size of the previous!

Current Growing Conditions: Warm Intermediate Terrarium
Light: ~160 PPFD or 8930 Lux under 4000K LED shoplights
Humidity: ~90% night and 67% day
Temperature: ~68F night and 85F day
Water: Moist but not wet
Potting Mix: 50% long fibered sphagnum moss 50% perlite

Fertilizer: MaxSea (1/4 tsp/gallon) every other week into pitchers and lightly spray leaves
Additional Notes: Very vigorous and hardy grower even at a young age. Excited to see more mature pitchers!
